*phosphocalcic stones (10 to 20% of cases);
*cystine stones (1 to 2% of cases in adults, 10% of cases in children), due to a genetic abnormality;
*phospho-ammoniaco-magnesian stones (called struvite) (less than 2% of cases, mainly in women.
What are the symptoms of renal colic?
When tiny, kidney stones can be eliminated naturally and sometimes result in blood in the urine. Renal colic causes very intense, even unbearable pain, spreading from the middle of the back to the groin, sometimes with nausea and vomiting. If not managed medically, kidney stones can cause kidney infection, possibly kidney failure or sepsis.
